I stumbled on a good author of a new hard sci-fi series. The author is Alastair Reynolds and the book was Revelation Space. I won’t go into detail on what it is about, you can read that at Amazon. Anyway, after reading it I found his follow up novel, a prequel called Chasm City. And just recently available in hardback is Redemption Ark, his third book and the direct sequel to Revelation Space. I did some digging online and discovered that his books are published first in the UK and then here. There is a book out in the UK that is two short stories in one book, Diamond Dogs/Turquoise Days: Tales from the Revelation Space Universe. The version in the US has only one of the stories, Diamond Dogs. It seems the same version that is in the UK was avialable here but is now out of stock. I decided to see if I could place an order on amazon.co.uk and get the UK version. Apparently this works just fine. I now have this book on order in the UK and it will be “dispatched” to me soon. While on the amazon.co.uk site I found the next book from Alastair Reynolds as well, Absolution Gap, not published yet in the UK and not even listed on amazon.com yet. So I pre-ordered the book with amazon.co.uk. This is very convenient. Now all I need is a PAL TV/DVD player and I can start ordering UK DVD’s.
