This is my first puppy. Wow are they a lot of work! So far he’s been pretty good and we’re working hard on housetraining and crate training him. He doesn’t have a whole lot of bladder control at 9 weeks so when he’s not with us he stays in the crate, which is small enough that he shouldn’t mess in it. Everything I’ve read has said that some pups will scream their heads on for the first few days of being in their crate. Well, Tanner is one of those! Anywhere from 10 minutes to 1.5 hours of screaming before he settles down. We’re doing all the good things, getting him comfortable with the crate, giving treats and toys, but I think he’s just lonely. Hopefully this doesn’t last too much longer. I added some classical music into the mix today, so we’ll see if that helps at all.
I think he works himself up a lot of the time. He’s supposed to be sleeping 15-18 hours/day and so far I think he’s lucky to sleep 10-11.
He’s getting the hang of what he’s supposed to do outside, which is amazing considering we haven’t even had him for 2 full days yet. It’s a lot of trips outside, so I’m glad the weather is good.
I’ve been taking lots of pictures so soon I’ll have all the Tanner picts online!
