Home Theater Constuction begins

Home theater construction began on Sunday. The construction is being driven by a friend, John, who is a building machine. We started yesterday at 2pm at Lowe’s. An hour and half to get wood and other materials including some nice new tools, a DeWalt Sliding Compound Miter Saw and a kit with 18v DeWalt Circular Saw, Hammer Drill, Reciprocating Saw and obligatory flashlight. Rented a truck from Lowe’s and hauled everything home. John started ripping apart the room while I returned the truck and went to a different Lowe’s for the Miter Saw. When I got back the room was carpet free and the side mounding was all ripped off as well as most of the carpet tack strips, AND John had began framing the rear riser. He’s like a whirlwind of productivity! Had to make one “extra” run to Lowe’s to pick up a few more things and of course it was during the middle of the snow storm, so people were driving silly even though there was only a couple of inches on the ground. By 10:30pm we had the rear riser entirely framed and in position and had run wires for two wall sconces.

Picrtues of the progress so far can be found here and will continue to be updated.
