Traci was all dressed and just about ready to go, when she had to change Declan who had waited until he was changed and dressed and then decided to poop. So she changed him and when she picked him up, he spit up. Less common these days. Of course he did it when she had him up close to her, so it went in her hair, all over her clothes, his clothes, and even in his hair!
Lots of cleanup and changing.
She was trying to get in early for an 8:30am meeting and since I have a late 4-5pm meeting I was taking Grey in. She left and I got in the shower. Grey came in when I was out of the shower and getting dried off and asked “how many numbers is oatmeal?” He was trying to be helpful and wanted to know how long to microwave oatmeal for. I told him “1 minute that’s one zero zero.”
He said “okay” and left.
A few minutes later he comes back in and says “you’re wrong daddy. I can’t eat it”.
“Ooookay,” I think to myself and I go with him into the kitchen to see what I was wrong about. As I got into the kitchen I could smell something horribly burnt. At first I figured he just put it in too long, like 10 minutes instead of 1. But he wasn’t gone that long…I look at the bowl and discovered he forgot MILK! Oatmeal nuked for 1 minute without milk or water = horribly burnt and stinky mess.
So, I cleaned that up and got us new oatmeal. Then I sat down to eat with him. I hadn’t had a chance to get dressed so I’m just in my underwear and socks at this point.
About halfway through breakfast he looks at me and says “Daddy, aren’t you going to put on pants and a shirt?”
I replied “yes, I am. But right now I’m eating breakfast with you instead.”
He got this huge smile and said “Thanks for that.”
Too cute.
Of course this was my 1st day taking him in to LifeTime, and I was talking to him in the car. For the past 6 years I’ve taken him to the same place for drop off. Even Declan has been right next door, so it’s basically the same place. So naturally where do I drive to? Sigh…
Needless to say I was late getting in today… 🙂
