I’m currently going through a vampire game phase on the XBox. Blood Omen 2 and Blade II are my current obsessions. They balance each other nicely, hunting vampires in Blade II and being a vampire living off the innocent in Blood Omen 2. As long as I can remember I’ve been interested in vampires. I remember hoping that the scary noise in the dark at night was a vampire and not a werewolf. Hoping that maybe vampires really were real and I’d get a shot at last to live forever. So far no luck.
Here is something I found from either my senior year in high school or my freshman year in college.
Vampires are Loose in the Land
I write this in boredom so that others may read it and question my sanity-charpman, 1987
It was a dreary August morning. The clouds hung low in the dawning sky. The sun was slowly rising, casting a warm peaceful glow over the land. As Maassel gently pulled the fur cloak across her shoulders she gazed out at the dancing sun light reflecting off the ocean. She sighed as she felt him embrace her. She leaned back and caught the gripping gaze of his eyes. Slowly he leaned forward until she felt his sharp teeth pierce her soft supple neck. She welcomed the feeling. It was an incredibly intense wonderful feeling of burning concentrated at her neck and slowly spreading throughout her body. Her blood felt as if it were boiling as it coursed through her pulsating veins. She contracted in orgasmic convulsions as she felt herself falling, her consciousness ebbing away. Then blackness surrounded her and she slept the tranquil sleep of one secure in the knowledge that nothing can hurt them.
She awoke in a cold sweat. Slowly she raised her hand to her neck and ran her fingers along it. She found what she was looking for, four raised marks in a square pattern. She rolled over and found her bed empty.
Of course, she though, he would be in the cellar by now.
She rose slowly and crossed the room to the picture windows. She opened the blinds and blinked to adjust her eyes as she scanned the calm ocean. The morning light cast a radiant shine over her naked body as she stretched. She glanced at the clock, it had been morning when she was last awake..
So Ive been asleep for an entire day, she said quietly to herself. Morning. He bit me in the morning!
The impact of the though hit her as if someone she had known had just risen from the grave. She staggered back a few steps, her legs suddenly gone limp.
Its working, she thought.
Her mind raced back to that day when she first learned of Mr. Sinclairs plan to alter the waking hours of a vampire. It was his belief that vampires were an experiment of evolution and as such could be helped along or modified. He believed that he had found and isolated the series of chemicals that reacted in a caustic manner with sunlight. The trick was to replace the chemicals in vampires with non-photo-reactive ones that would perform the same duties. This was achieved by reprogramming the DNA to produce these chemicals. Since human and vampire DNA is self-replicating only a small fraction of code had to be reprogrammed for rather quick results. Apparently it was working.
