So…I had this hum in my subwoofers. I found a wealth of information on how to hunt it down, isolators you can buy to put inline at various points to kill the hum, high quality equipment to kill the hum without hurting the audio quality etc. Then I found mention of something that seemed to simple to work.

I sent emails off to SVS where I purchased the subs and amp from and explained my problem to them. They replied with the same simple solution and said they’ve been doing for years, just don’t shower with the amp. 🙂

The solution? A 64 cent grounding adaptor. One of those little 3 prong to 2 prong adapters. Just lift the ground off the amp and the “rogue current” can no longer use the amp as a path to earth ground. Pretty simple. Hum gone. Sounds great.
