Something to consider

Quotes from one of our most revered founding fathers. What would he make of our government today? The existence of the Department of Homeland Security? The so-called “Patriot Act”? The whole Intelligent Design debate and rise of the Christian Right? The debate over the 2nd amendment? Thomas Jefferson: Experience hath shown, that even under the Read More …

2nd High School Reunion – 20 years

July 13th and 14th, in Poland Ohio.  A good time was had by all.  It was great to see long lost friends. Hopefully we’ll manage to stay in touch during the next 20 better than we have in the previous 20. Some pictures, and an experiment to see how well this works: well…it doesn’t… at Read More …

Causality

The book Freakenomics has some very interesting things to say. One of which I just saw on commercial last night, but entirely misused and misunderstood, either intentionally for marketing purposes or through ignorance. Honestly I think it?s the latter, though its easy to say the former since the author takes great pains to make his Read More …

Dan demands

Finally a part time reader has demanded I update my blog. That’s what I need. A good kick in the ass. To placate Dan I shall post a few readings from the Book Of Dog. Bones and Kiblets (22:18): Those that have fed the Dog and petted the Dog and played with the Dog will be spared Read More …

A return to the blog, aka Baby’s Room

Okay, so it’s been a while since I updated this. I’ve been bad, very bad. The Babys Room. {ominous crack of thunder} After much deliberation we have begun Read More …

HT2004 Update

Home Theater construction is still coming along nicely. Some slow days with lots of fiddly tedious things getting done, but we’re quite close to painting now. The front stage is framed up and ready to be wrapped in fabric. A few more coats of mud and lots of sanding and we’re ready to start painting, Read More …

The home theater is starting

The home theater is starting to move along. The projector, a Sharp XV-Z12000, is anxiously waiting being put to use. The mounting bracket and extension pole ordered from Audio Encounters should be in today or tomorrow (pricy items at almost $500). I’ve settled on a DVD player, the Samsung DVD-HD931, and ordered it from Amazon. Read More …

Game Night Skittles

This week I set up forums on this site. Yesterday was the first day they were really up and running with users besides me. One innocent little post about skittles ended up derailing our normal game night and turning it into a search for Skittles so we could learn thier hidden secrets. The Skittle Project.

The Curse strikes again

Saturday May 10th was another day of the curse. The plan was to wake up early and start working on our basement office floor, prepping the floor and installing Pergo. But the Curse had other plans for us. At 4:30 A.M. I awoke to the tintinnabulation of the myriad UPS’s around the house complaining that Read More …
